How quickly can I schedule my first appointment?

I understand that by the time you’ve decided to start therapy, you are most likely really eager to get things moving.  If I am able to accept you as a client, I will do my very best to get you scheduled within a week or two.

How do I schedule my first appointment?

Complete the less-than-5-minute registration process.

Wait to receive a call or email regarding my availability and procedure to activate online scheduling.  If you have been contacted within 24 business-hours, please call my office as there may have been a problem connecting that needs attention.

How do I know if you’re a good fit for me?

Excellent question! Having a good fit will undoubtedly deliver the most therapeutic value.  I have done my best to represent, throughout my website, what you can expect from me.  The best way to know if I’m a good fit for you is to schedule an initial session -  Click Here to Register.  Developing a strong therapeutic relationship is a work in progress.  This requires we both maintain a willingness to give and receive feedback.

How does therapy look with an LCSW?

While behavioral health is a hard science with evidence-based research supporting many therapeutic frameworks and techniques, the therapeutic relationship is known to be the strongest factor of your outcome.  There are several educational programs that prepare a therapist to practice.  As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, my training emphasizes meeting my client where they are, respecting their right to self-determine, and understanding them within the context of their unique situation.

How often do I need to go and how long does therapy take?

I recommend beginning with weekly sessions so we can get things moving in the right direction.  This is the most cost effective, as it will lend to a stronger therapeutic relationship.  Once established, we will work together to determine your needs as we go along.

How is my privacy and confidentiality ensured?

Your privacy is of utmost importance as it is the foundation of creating a safe place to reveal yourself and begin to make significant changes.  For this reason, my office has very little to no foot-traffic, and I am the only person who has access to your records or other forms of communication.  When using medical insurance, your insurance company has access to your information to ensure your symptoms meet their medical necessity criteria.

Additionally, I am bound to maintain your confidentiality with only a few exceptions that I am mandated to report.  These are the same for all therapists and will be clearly outlined and reviewed prior to your initial session.

Should I use insurance?

This is a personal decision.  Self-paying allows for the highest level of privacy with no limitations on the care you are seeking.

It is important to know that insurance requires your symptoms to meet their guidelines for medical necessity, and a steady improvement must be documented to consider the treatment effective.  Many times, life changes come with ups and downs, and I have found that using insurance may limit the scope and target of our work together.

Additionally, when using insurance, your insurance provider has access to records, as they may seek proof that your sessions were medically necessary.

Please, feel free to ask any specific questions as it pertains to your personal situation.  It is only with transparent information that you can make the best decision for yourself.

What is your session length and what are your fees?

Sessions are 60-minutes in most cases.  The initial session is $130, and the following sessions are $120.  Fees are discounted when self-paying by cash or check (as this eliminates administration expenses, insurance filing fees, and credit card fees).

If I am an in-network provider, and you choose to use your insurance, your session time may be limited to 45 minutes as some insurances will not cover hour-long sessions.  Your fees will also be determined by your insurance.  You will need to contact them to quote your benefits before I can determine your exact out-of-pocket expense.
